Herbert Kimminau Obituary

Herbert P. Kimminau ,94, Washington, passed away on July 18, 2021 at his residence in Washington.

Herb, son of the late Ferdinand Kimminau and his wife Mary nee Lienert, was born on September 29, 1926 in Lawrence, NE.  He received his education at St. Joseph’s Franciscan Seminary in Westmont, Illinois. On November 24, 1949, he was united in marriage to Mary Lee Brinkmann at St. Francis Borgia Church.

Mr. Kimminau honourably served his country as a member of the United States Navy in WWII.

Herb loved reading, playing cards, dartball, horseshoes, bowling, and was an avid fisherman. He especially loved spending time with his family. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, VFW 2661, Happy Go Lucky Club, WCU, and St. Francis Borgia Church. He retired after 35 years at Modern Auto Company in Washington.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four siblings, Terry Kimminau, Sister Mary Matthew Kimminau, Irene Abbett, Erna Kimmianu, and one great-grandchild, Quinn.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lee Kimminau of Washington; six children, David Kimminau and wife Lavon of Lee’s Summit, Tom Kimminau and wife Lori of Washington, Ken Kimminau and wife Kim of Washington, Bill Kimminau and wife Pam of Washington, Jim Kimminau and wife Lisa of Washington, and Mary Jo Welman and husband Scott of Lee’s Summit; one brother, Father Irenaeus Kimminau of Quincy, IL, two sisters, Stephanie Straatmann of St. Louis, and Agnes Piontek of Washington; seventeen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.

A funeral mass was celebrated on Thursday, July 22, 2021, at St. Francis Church. Burial was in the St. Francis Borgia Cemetery. Mr. Kimminau was buried with full military honors.

Memorial donations can be made to the St. Francis Borgia Church or Masses.
The Kimminau Family was served by Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home, Washington.
