Helen M. Sherlock, 79 , of Labadie, passed away on May 25, 2022. Ms. Sherlock, daughter of the late James Sherlock and Margaret Lauer, was born on March 21, 1943 in Chicago, IL.
Helen was very passionate about dog breeding. She helped the Monks and the Nuns of New Skete, establish their German Shepherd breeding program. She rose to prominence in the German Shepherd Dog Club of America, where she was on the Board of Directors and headed the committee for health and genetics. She also wrote the breed history entry for the German Shepherd today.
Ms. Sherlock was a lifelong friend and business partner of Patricia Parsons. They established and maintained Caralon Kennels. Caralon Kennels was home of one of the greatest Pembroke Welsh Corgi Stud Dog in AKC as well as many champion PWC’S and German Shepherds. She was also instrumental helping establish the Orthopedic Foundation for animals.
Along with her friend Charles Krueger, they established the ultimate supplement for dogs that is still available today and also established breeding protocols for the German Shepherd and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Mary Smith.
Among her survivors are her special friend and retired business partner, Patricia Parsons DDS, professor at Washington University; other relatives and many friends.
