Helen Edna Cain, 92, of Washington, passed away on December 26, 2023. Mrs. Cain, daughter of the late John Holdmeier and Catherine nee Kemp, was born on May 6, 1931 in Krakow. She grew up on Four Mile Road and attended St. Gertrude Grade School. On November 27, 1952, she was united in marriage to Wensel Cain of Sullivan, MO. They made their home on Four Mile Road in Krakow and were blessed with four children, Debbie, Ronald, William, and Carol Cain.
After the passing of Wensel Cain in 1969, she was left to raise their four children alone. Edna enjoyed roaming the family farm in the spring, hunting for morel mushrooms, and fishing in the summers. She also enjoyed spending time on the family farm and on her front porch swing. In her later years, she used her John Deere Gator to travel around the family farm. She was a lifetime member of Saint Gertrude Church and faithfully attended church until her recent years as a resident of New Haven Care Center.
Mrs. Cain was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wensel Cain; daughter, Debra Rinne; son, Ronald Cain; great-grandson, Trevor Harris, and three siblings, Albert Holdmeier, Rita Ball, and Jolena Holdmeier.
Among her survivors are her children, William Cain and wife Barbara of Krakow and Carol Harris and husband John of Washington; four sisters, Leona Phillips and husband Francis of Kansas City, Theresa Drew and husband Albert of Washington, Jocena Johnsen of Gerald, and Aurelia Krause of Krakow; sister-in-law, Christal Cain of Florida; eight grandchildren, Tammy Brinkmann, Annie Buehrle, Daniel Rinne, John Harris III, James Harris, Jennifer Jarosz, Micheal Harris, and Marcus Harris; fourteen great-grandchildren, and numerous great nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, January 8, 2024 at 10 a.m. at St. Gertrude’s Church in Krakow.
