Harlan Brune Obituary

Harlan J. Brune, 74 , of Washington, passed away on July 26, 2022. Harlan, son of the late Leo Brune and Rose nee Feltmann, was born on January 2, 1948, in Washington. He received his education from St. Francis Borgia High School.

On November 16, 1968, he married Carol Macdonald in Louisville, KY.  Shortly thereafter, Harlan was drafted and proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army combat infantryman in the Vietnam War. 

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 1121, Elks Lodge 1559, VFW 2661, St. Francis Borgia Church, and SFB Regional High School Athletic Association.

Harlan enjoyed hunting, fishing, spoiling his grandkids, and boating with friends on the Missouri River.

Harlan was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Father Dale Brune.

Among his survivors are his wife, Carol Brune of Washington; four children, Sheila Taylor and husband John of Columbia, MO, Damon Brune and wife Gina of Denver, CO, Sean Brune and wife Mary Kate of Washington, and Kyle Brune and significant other Jordan Bowers of Bloomington, IN; sister, Ruth Ann Gleeson and husband Earl of Washington; grandchildren, Claire and Grant Taylor, Xander Brune, Sophie, Annie, and Millie Brune, and Jake, Ryne, and Huck; two nephews, Darren Gleeson and wife Lisa and Terry Gleeson and wife Stephanie; niece, Christie Brandt and husband Jack; other relatives and many friends.

A visitation will be held on Monday, August 1, 2022 from 4-8 p.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home. Memorial Mass will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at St. Francis Borgia Church. Memorial donations can be given to the VFW 2661 or St. Francis Borgia High School Athletic Association.
