Glen D. Meyer, 89, of Washington, passed away on August 5, 2023. Mr. Meyer, son of the late Elmer Meyer and Ollie nee Coulter, was born on September 4, 1933 in Etlah, MO. He received his education from the grade school in Etlah and also at Berger and New Haven High School.
Mr. Meyer served his country honorably as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War from 1953-1955. He was a member of American Legion Post 218.
On August 16, 1958, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Nolte at St. John’s U.C.C. in Berger. Glen worked for the Kellwood Company in New Haven for 5 years, then became a truck driver for Kellwood for 26 years. In 1990, he started driving for Wal-Mart, until his retirement in 2003.
Glen served on the St. Peter’s U.C.C. Cemetery Board in Washington, helping mow the grass and he also worked with St. Peter’s Food Pantry. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Goldie Garbs and Gale Meyer.
Among his survivors are his wife, Dorothy Meyer of Washington; three children, Mark Meyer and wife Sharon of Krakow, Lisa Oxton and husband Rick of Fort Myers Beach, Florida, and Doug Meyer and wife Shelley of Washington; grandchildren, Dallas Pennock and wife Kathryn, Courtland Pennock and wife Alyson, Bryce Meyer, Allison Meyer, Amy Oxton, and Dan Dixon and wife Margo; great-grandchildren, Max Pennock, Zoe Pennock, Eli Dixon, and Quinn Dixon; other relatives and many friends.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023, from 9-11 a.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral, with a memorial service beginning at 11 a.m. Memorial donations can be made to St. Peter’s Cemetery or St. Peter’s Food Pantry.
