Frank E. Neier, 89 , of Washington, passed away on June 13, 2022. Mr. Neier, son of the late Edward F. Neier and Rose nee Erzer, was born on November 17, 1932 in Beaufort. He received his education from Union High School. Frank served his country honorably as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War.
On May 10, 1986, he was united in marriage to Shirley Weatherford NEE Epple in Washington. Early in his career, Frank was a roofer and worked in automobile production. He then went to work for McDonnell-Douglas in 1962. Frank retired from there in 1992, and enjoyed thirty years of retirement.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman, enjoyed raising cattle, and worked on his vegetable garden until he was in his early 80’s.
By far the most joy that he had was being around his family and watching his beloved St. Louis Cardinals.
Mr. Neier was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings, Paul Neier, Irene Brune, Lawrence Neier, Lorraine Greene, and Viola Vandeever.
Among his survivors are his wife, Shirley Neier of Washington; two children, Stephanie “Pepper” Reed and husband Duane of Washington and Adam Neier and wife Cathy of New Melle; brother, Charles Neier of St. Clair; grandchildren, Cayman Reed and wife Casey, Caleb Reed and wife Maddie, Carli Reed, David Neier, and Megan Boerner; great-grandchildren, Quinn and Dakota Reed; step-children, Wendy Morton and husband Jim, Lori Schaumburg, Le Ann Garbs, Debbie Thomas and husband Tom, and Bobbie Noelker and husband Bill; thirteen step-grandchildren, ten step-great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
A visitation will be on Sunday, June 19, 2022 from 4-7 p.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 20, 2022 at the St. Gertrude’s Church in Krakow. Interment, with full military honors will be held at the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the St. Gertrude’s School.
