Frank Giger Jr. Obituary

Dolphus Franklin “Frank” Giger Jr. of Washington, MO, passed away on January 1, 2025. Mr. Giger was the eldest son of the late Dolphus F. Giger Sr. and Mary Jewell Giger née Franklin. He was born on August 6, 1942, in Richmond Heights, MO. He earned his education from the Rolla School of Mines. On December 22, 1968, he was united in marriage to Norma Riley in St. Louis. They just celebrated 56 years of marriage.

Frank worked as an engineer at Proctor and Gamble in St. Louis, a plant engineer at Lindeman Wine in Sydney, Australia, and owned Giger Appliance and Giger Enterprise in Mexico, MO. However, what he enjoyed most in life was caring for his family. He enjoyed fishing and traveling. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers-in-law, James & Jack Riley, Jim Myers, Charles Elliott, Juan Curtis, Herschel Turpin, John Duncan, Ira Norman, nephew Perry Riley, and nieces Tamra Turpin, Staci Elliott, and Leslie Myers.

Among his survivors are his wife, Norma Giger of Washington; daughters, Julie Burr of St. Charles, Sue Giger and life partner Chris Bowman of the Lake of the Ozarks, and Jana Giger and husband Jeremy Nation of St. Charles; siblings, John Michael “Mike” Giger and partner Sally Landwehr of St. Louis and Naomi Norman of Franklin, TN: grandchildren, Madi and Lauren Burr, and their father Shannon Burr, Xavier Nation, and Temple Nation; sisters-in-law, Drenda Curtis of Quincy, IL, Connie (and Wayne) LaForce of Olathe, KS, and Evalena Duncan of Villa Ridge, MO; nieces, Rebecca Polinkas, Dawn Rand, Jodi Mills, Amy Moore, Robyn Barnett, Tina Schwartze, Regina Vestal, nephews Gary Riley and Tracy Riley, and many loved ones and friends. Some of his "bonus" children include Eddie Felicori of Milan, Italy, Sebastian Utiger of Switzerland, Nicholas Cepeda of Colombia, South America, and Kjell Høgberg of Norway. 

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025, from 2-4 PM at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home in Washington, with a memorial service beginning at 4 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).
