Frank H. Dietl Jr.

 Frank H. Dietl Jr., 78, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, surrounded by loved ones.

Born on July 25, 1946, to Frank H. Dietl Sr. and Helma (Dix), he graduated from Roosevelt High School in St. Louis in 1964.

In a spontaneous act of love, he eloped with Sandra Remspecher on December 28, 1964, at a firehouse in Illinois. They shared a beautiful marriage that lasted 50 years.

Frank began his career as a welder at Nooter Boiler before obtaining his diesel mechanic license from Vaterott College. He worked at Power Brakes for three years and, in 1969, started his apprenticeship with the St. Louis Plumbers Local 35, where he proudly remained a member for 55 years.

Frank and Sandy had two children: Frank III and his spouse, Kerri, and Angela Schuttenberg and her spouse, Craig. They were blessed with five grandchildren: Jordan (and spouse Rob), Jessica (and spouse Patrick), Justin (and spouse Emily), Danny (and spouse Hayley), and Jenna, along with five great-grandchildren: Alana, Edwin, Jude, Jericho, and Aech.

A passionate outdoorsman, Frank enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and sports, and he loved working on his Corvette and Mustang. He also had a keen interest in collecting sports memorabilia, coins, Snap-on tools, neon signs, guns, knives, pool cues, poker chips, and beer steins.

Above all, Frank cherished spending time with his family, his beloved dog Sparky, and visiting casinos in St. Louis and Las Vegas.

He will be remembered for his strong work ethic and generosity. In the past nine years, he treated family and friends to memorable outings, including bus trips to Guns and Hoses, Cardinals games, and horse racing at Fairmount Park.

A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, from 4-7 p.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home, with a celebration of life starting at 7 p.m. Memorial donations can be made to Backstoppers-Franklin County.
