Frances P. Meade

Frances P. Meade, 91, of Washington, passed away on May 14, 2025. Mrs. Meade, daughter of the late Frank Marquart and Rose nee Schmitt, was born on August 3, 1933, in Washington. She received her education from St. Gertrude’s Grade School. On August 3, 1963, she was united in marriage to Melvin Meade at the St. Gertrude’s Church in Krakow.

Frances had a passion for sewing and embroidery, creating intricate patterns that adorned her home and delighted her family. Her love for gardening was equally profound, and she took great joy in tending to her flowers, ensuring they bloomed vibrantly each season. Frances was known as a devoted caregiver, always ready to help those in need with a kind heart and a gentle touch. Her love for animals was undeniable, and she often found solace in their companionship.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin Meade; son, James Meade(infancy); siblings, Alverna Marquart, Ralph Marquart, Wilfred Marquart, MaryAnn Kraft, Leola Mantle, Lillian Nieder, Alfred Marquart, and John Marquart; in-laws, Catherine Marquart, Martin Kraft, Charles Mantle, Jerome Nieder, and John Dobsch.

Among her survivors are her siblings, Gertrude Katzung and husband Joseph of Krakow, Frank Marquart and wife Rosemary of Femme Osage, MO, Roman Marquart and wife Linda of Washington, Raymond Marquart and wife Patricia of Washington, and Edward Marquart and wife Donna of Krakow; sister-in-laws, Rose Marquart, Genevieve Marquart, and Mindy McDaris; loved ones and friends.

A visitation will be held on Monday, May 19, 2025, from 9-10:30 a.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 19, 2025, at the St. Francis Borgia Church. Interment will be in the St. Francis Borgia Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the St. Francis Borgia Church or the Grandview Healthcare Center Activity Fund.
