Florentine “Dodie” Wunderlich, 95, of Washington, passed away on July 25, 2023. Mrs. Wunderlich, daughter of the late Frank Engemann and Olivia nee Hellebusch, was born on August 1, 1927, in Treloar, MO. She received her education from Washington High School. On May 10, 1947, she was united in marriage to Walter Wunderlich at St. Francis Borgia Church.
Mrs. Wunderlich was employed as a secretary and office manager with several companies in Washington and retired from Mid-American Coaches. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Our Lady of Lourdes Ladies Sodality, and the Elks 1559 Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter Wunderlich; son, Father Daniel Wunderlich; three siblings, Virgil Engemann, Arthur Engemann, and Delphine Mades; In-laws, Helen Engemann, Joan Engemann, Les Mades, Bob Willenbrink, Rom Buescher, and grandson-in-law, Jeff Muenz.
Among her survivors are her children, Father Dale Wunderlich of St. Louis, Janis Beste of Wentzville, and Carol Piontek and husband Tom of Washington; siblings, Rose Willenbrink of Augusta, Joan Buescher of Washington, and Orville Engemann and wife Mayetta of Washington; grandchildren, Jodi Martinez and husband Jose, Amy Muenz, Erin Thukkani and husband Arun, Joe Piontek and wife Kelli, and Adam Piontek and wife Katie; great-grandchildren, Zachary Martinez, Jackson Martinez, Brooklyn Muenz, Arjun Thukkani, Aisha Thukkani, Ben Piontek, Emma Piontek, Lucy Piontek, Max Piontek, and Janie Piontek; other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 30, 2023, from 3-6 p.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 31, 2023, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Interment will be in the St. Francis Borgia Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Church or the Shrine of St. Joseph in St. Louis.
