Eugene E. Helsee, 88, of Washington,passed away on July 22, 2025. Mr. Helsee, son of the late Mack Helsee and Blanche nee Ray, was born on March 21, 1937, in Akron, CO. He received his education from Eureka High School. On June 2, 1962, he was united in marriage to Betty J. Kappelmann. Eugene served his country honorably as a member of the United States Air Force.
Eugene was a sweet soul and enjoyed all the adventures that a big family life brought. Eugene was a hard worker and a devoted husband. His presence will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Walter Frisbie; wife, Betty Helsee; son-in-law, Bob Strubberg Jr.; three brothers, Wayne Bell and wife Bernice, Rodney Bell, and Wendell Bell; mother and father-in-law, Alvin and Jenny Kappelmann, and brothers and sister-in-law, Don Kappelmann, Tom Kappelmann, and Shirley Ham.
Among his survivors are four children, Kathy Holtgrieve and husband Ken of Kerrville, TX, Tim Marsch and wife Missie of Stony Hill, Bryan Helsee and wife Dee of Tulsa, OK, and Jennifer Hogan and husband Dan of Washington; brother, Virgil Frisbie and wife Jari of Springfield, MO; sister in law, Delores Bell of Pacific; grandchildren, Matt Holtgrieve and wife Emily of Texas, Kristina Patton and husband Clayton of Texas, Amber Knight and husband Rick of Connecticut, Noah Helsee, Hannah Helsee, Martha and Joey Acker, all of Oklahoma, and Olivia and Adrianna Strubberg of Washington; great-grandchildren, Zac and Fletcher Holtgrieve, AJ, Kase, and Luke Patton, and Chloe Knight; three bonus grandchildren, Abby, Maddy, and Ella Hogan; brother-in-law, Charlie Kappelmann and wife Betty and sisters-in-law, June Kappelmann, Gail Kappelmann; other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 9-11 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Washington, with a funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. Interment with full military honors will be at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church or School.
