Emmett Charles Becker, 96, of Labadie, MO passed away May 24th, 2025.
Emmett was born June 21, 1928 in Labadie, MO to Francis Linden and Annie Louise (nee Walter) Becker. He was a 1946 Washington High School graduate and was in the Army from 1950-1952.
Emmett was united in marriage to Darlene Emmaline Cowan on Sept 4, 1954 in Gray Summit, MO.
Emmett had a love for trains. He retired from Union Pacific Railroad in 1986 after 33 years of service. He had many jobs there, the longest being a signal engineer. He had 70 years of active membership with American Legion Post 565 in Labadie and was also part of the Korean War Veterans Association. He served as the Legion Post’s Commander for many years. Emmett and Darlene had a love for travel. They made sure to see every state capital and even take their kids and grandkids to see them as well! Emmett was a bit of a jack of all trades. One of his “famous” past times was catching moles! He was also very active in his lifelong church, Pilgrim UCC of Labadie. He was baptized there in 1934, confirmed in 1941, and was their longest continuous member.
He is survived by one daughter, Janet (Patrick) Cunniff, Madison, MO, two sons: Charles (Trisha) Becker, Valrico, FL and Glen (Donna) Becker, Labadie, MO, one bonus daughter, Beth Norton, Union, MO; Nine grandchildren: Sean (Laura) Cunniff, Southern Pines, NC, Erin (Chris) Keogh, Salem, MO, Mindy (Cory) Thurman, St. Clair, MO, Taylor Becker, Valrico, FL, Danny (Kimi) Cunniff, Las Vegas NV, Jacquelyn Becker, Valrico, FL, Michael Zappulla, O’Fallon, MO, Matthew Hess, PA and Jennifer Hess, Flanders, NJ; Nine great grandchildren: Mackenzie Cunniff, Southern Pines, NC, Nikolas, Aubree, Alexa Keogh, Salem, MO and Skylar, Ava Thurman, St. Clair, MO, Alicia Zappulla, O’Fallon, MO, Destini Hess, Tampa, FL, Isabella Hess, Flanders, NJ; One great, great grandchild: Delanie Zappulla, O’Fallon, MO, along with many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Darlene; one son, George Becker, his parents and three brothers: Walter, Marvin and Donald Becker.
Visitation: May 28th 4pm-7pm at Nieburg-Vitt-Miller: 1206 Jefferson St. Washington, MO
Funeral: May 29th at 10am at Pilgrim UCC: 301 Academy St. Labadie, MO
Burial following directly after service at Bethel Cemetery: Hwy T in Labadie, MO
Memorials may be made to Bethel Cemetery or Pilgrim UCC, both of Labadie.
