Edward J. Marquart, 80, of Washington, passed away on May 4, 2026. Mr. Marquart, son of the late Frank Marquart Sr. and Rose nee Schmitt, was born on August 11, 1945, in Washington. He received his education from St. Francis Borgia High School. On September 7, 1968, he was united in marriage to Donna Kuebler at the St. Francis Borgia Church. Ed served his country honorably as a member of the United States Army.
Ed was employed at the Post Office for 36 years, during which he touched many lives. After his retirement he held several part time jobs. He loved playing softball, horseshoes, playing cards with family, camping, traveling and putting puzzles together. He was an avid volunteer at church, VFW 2661, and the Elks Lodge. Always willing to lend a hand where needed. But most of all he loved his time with family, especially following his grandsons in all their sports. Baseball was his favorite as he was always listening to Cardinals games. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; mother and father-in-law, Bernadine and Eugene Kuebler, and nine siblings, Alverna Marquart, Ralph Marquart, Wilfred Marquart, MaryAnn Kraft, Leola Mantle, Lillian Nieder, Frances Meade, Alfred Marquart, and John Marquart.
Among his survivors are his wife, Donna Marquart of Washington; three children, Julie Shelton and husband Leon of New Haven, Blake Marquart and wife Alice of Washington, and Scott Marquart and wife Vanessa of Savannah, GA; siblings, Frank Marquart Jr. and wife Rosemary of New Melle, Gertrude Katzung and husband Joseph of Washington, Roman Marquart and wife Linda of Washington, and Raymond Marquart and wife Patricia of Washington; two grandchildren, Zachary Marquart and significant other Mary Kaster and Elijah Marquart and wife Blaire; step-grandchildren, Jay Daugherty and significant other Amanda Howell, Luke Daugherty and significant other Madison Young, and Rebecca Boone and husband Cody; great-grandchildren, Harlow Daugherty, Hutton and Barrett Daugherty, and Amelia Boone; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ron Kuebler and wife Mary Ann of Washington, Carol Bleckman of Washington, Jeannette Voss-Bean and husband Dan of Vermont, and Linda Bezold and husband David of Marthasville; other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held on Monday, May 18, 2026, from 11am-12pm at the St. Gertrudes Church, with a Mass beginning at 12pm. Interment with full military honors will be at the church cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the Veterans Administration or VFW Post 2661.
