Dottie Bolzenius Obituary

Dorothy F. Bolzenius , 97 , of Washington, passed away on May 11, 2020. Mrs. Bolzenius, daughter of the late Frederick Kopmann and his wife Martha NEE Struckhoff, was born October 28, 1922 in Augusta. She received her education from the Immaculate Conception School in Augusta. On October 26, 1946, she was united in marriage to Albert Bolzenius at the Immaculate Conception Church in Augusta. Dorothy was a member of the St. Francis Borgia Church, St. Francis Borgia Ladies Sodality, VFW 2661 Auxiliary, and the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert Bolzenius; four sisters, Wanda DiNapoli, Laurie Freihaut, Millie Koenen, Mary Lou Kargus, and by two grandchildren, P.J. and Patrick Simons.

Among her survivors are three daughters, Joyce Simons and husband Joe of Washington, Joan Unnerstall and husband Mark of Washington, and Ann Bolzenius of Washington; four grandchildren, Bryan and Christopher Simons of Washington, Aaron Unnerstall and wife Shannon of Lake St. Louis, and Erica Ryals and husband Zach of Washington; two great-grandchildren, Peyton Unnerstall and Teddy Ryals; other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2020 from 10 A.M. – 12 P.M. at Nieburg-Vitt,Miller Funeral Home, with the Funeral Service beginning at 12 P.M. Interment will be in the St. Francis Borgia Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the St. Francis Borgia Church or the St. Francis Borgia Ladies Sodality.
