Dorothy Broeker Obituary

Dorothy Mae “Dot” Broeker, age 78 of Washington, passed away June 8, 2021, at StoneBridge, Hermann, with family by her side.

Dot was born December 8, 1942, in Washington, daughter of Joseph and Adele (Marquart) Broeker.  She graduated from St. Francis Borgia High School in 1960.  During her work life, she worked at factories including Florsheim Shoes, the Deb Shoe Factory, and retired from Tradco.

Dot enjoyed doing crafts, which she often gifted to her family and friends, or gave to her church for the country store at the picnic.  She was a huge Cardinal baseball fan, a season ticket holder for several years, often inviting others to attend games with her.  She traveled to spring training to watch games and enjoy the experience with other Cardinal fans.  She loved traveling, whether by car or on bus trips with friends.  She was an avid bowler.  For several years she walked in March of Dimes Walk America, raising funds to help pre-term babies and their families.  More than once, she was among the top fundraisers in Franklin County.

She is survived by her brother, Bob (Pat) Broeker of Washington, nephew Mike (Barb) Broeker of Washington, niece Roberta Broeker of Jefferson City, nephew Mark (Julie) Broeker of Clarksburg, Maryland, five great nephews/nieces and their spouses/fiancés, and 7 great-great nephews/nieces.

Dot was preceded in death by her mother and father.

Friends will be received from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at St. Gertrude Church in Krakow, with the funeral Mass beginning at 10:00 a.m.  Dot donated her body to St. Louis University School of Medicine to further medical research.

Expressions of sympathy may made to the St. Gertrude Catholic Church Endowment Fund, for masses, or to the March of Dimes.
