Donna Kitchen Obituary

Donna M. Kitchen, 73, of Lake Sherwood, passed away on December 10,
2020. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Roselein
(nee Kohler) Kitchen of New Jersey and her mother- and father-in-law, John and Joann Reed of Arizona.

 

Donna leaves behind her beloved wife, Dr. Jackie Reed, who was joined with Donna in matrimony on July 20, 2013 in Belfast, ME. In addition, Donna leaves three siblings, Kathy Lair (Bill), Tom Kitchen (Janelle), and Berta Rahmey; brothers- and sisters in-law Joe Reed (Sara), Janet Schultz (Paul), Joyce Salsberry (Marc), and Jim Reed; bonus mother-in-law Eileen Reed; nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

 

Donna also leaves behind a legion of friends harking back to her childhood. In Donna’s 50 years in St. Louis, she created a circle of close friends who shared endless support, road trips, celebrations, and shoulders to cry upon to get through the challenges of life. Donna’s intellect, wit, generosity, and joyful personality left their mark on many. Her loyalty to her friends and family was unparalleled. They mourn her unexpected passing and know her gentle, powerful spirit will reside within them.

 

Donna was born May 2, 1947, in Camden, NJ. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Douglass College at Rutgers University in 1969 and a Master of Social Work from Brown School of Social Work at Washington University, St. Louis, MO, in 1973. Following her education, Donna became licensed as a clinical social worker (LCSW) in MO and devoted her professional life to her work as a psychotherapist.

 

In keeping with her generous spirit, Donna chose to be an organ donor prior to cremation. A celebration of her life is planned for May 2, 2021. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to a charity of your choice in her honor.
