Donald R. Schrader

Donald R. Schrader, 92, of Washington, passed away on May 15, 2026. Mr. Schrader, son of the late William Schrader and Mary nee Voss, was born on May 3, 1934, in Washington. He received his education from St. Ann’s School in Clover Bottom. On November 10, 1962, he was united in marriage to Rose Wiethar at St. Ignatius Church in Concord Hill. Don served his country honorably as a member of the United States Army.

Mr. Schrader greatly valued traveling with his family across the United States in their recreational vehicle. He found immense joy in outdoor pursuits and delighted in offering his grandchildren rides on his tractor. Mr. Schrader possessed exceptional skills in repairing various items, with a particular talent for electronic devices.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Rose Schrader; siblings, Melba Schrader, Evelyn Peters, Glennon Schrader, and brother-in-law, Gene Wiethar.

Among his survivors are his six children, Timothy Schrader of New Haven, Michael Schrader and wife Kathleen of Washington, Richard Schrader and wife Christine of Washington, Douglas Schrader and wife Bonita of Washington, Amy Solter and husband Jeffrey of Washington, and Kelly Platt and husband Jason of Edwards, CO; grandchildren, Tyler Schrader and wife Kierstyn, Taylor Maaas and husband Daniel, Alex Solter, Brooke Klemme and husband Jacob, Megan Gildehaus and husband Wade, Jared Schrader, Tyson Schrader, Parker Schrader, Mathias Platt, and August Platt; great-grandchildren, Hunter Klemme, Tyler Klemme, Rylee Hood, Bennett Schrader, Karsyn Schrader, and Leevi Gildehaus; sister-in-law, Ruth Schrader; loved ones and friends.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, from 9-10 a.m. at St. Ann’s Church in Clover Bottom, with a memorial mass beginning at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society, St. Ann’s Parish PSR, or Masses.
