Donald Scheibe Obituary

Donald M. Scheibe, 92, of Washington, passed away on November 18, 2024. Mr. Scheibe, son of the late Rudolph Scheibe and Mildred nee Walker, was born on October 28, 1932, in Marysville, KS. He graduated from Marysville High School and then served in the Navy during the Korean War.  After his time in the Navy, Don attended and graduated from Kansas State University, and completed graduate work at The Ohio State University. On November 8, 1958, he was united in marriage to Jenny Thomas in Lincoln, NE. 

Don loved sports.  He played them in high school, coached his sons’ teams, officiated them for many years, and continued to play tennis throughout his retirement.  He loved watching them and passionately discussing them.  Don loved to joke and laugh and enjoyed traveling with his late wife and spending time with the family that he loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jenny R. Scheibe and four siblings, Dorothy Warren, Claude Scheibe, Robert Scheibe, and Sandra Rogers.

Among his survivors are three sons, Scott Scheibe and wife Brenda of LaVerne, CA, Todd Scheibe and wife Georgia of St. Louis, MO, and Jeff Scheibe and wife Karen of Ballwin; siblings, Reita Bargmann of Marysville, KS and Charlotte Phippen of Stephenville, TX; ten grandchildren, Steven Scheibe and wife Melissa, Julia Davis and husband Jeremy, David Scheibe and wife Jennifer, Claire Scheibe, Andrew Scheibe and wife Paige, Taylor Scheibe, Victoria Scheibe, Isabelle Scheibe, Caleb(CJ) Scheibe, and Emma Scheibe; two great-grandchildren, Claire Scheibe and Reid Davis; other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at the Presbyterian Church of Washington, MO on December 9, 2024, at 10 am.  Interment will follow at the Presbyterian Cemetery off Pottery Road in Washington.
