Dixie Bayless, 85, of Washington, passed away on June 28, 2025. Mrs. Bayless, daughter of the late Marlin Lane and Rachel Frankie nee Twilley, was born on June 9, 1940 in Gid, Arkansas. She was a 1958 graduate of Bakersfield High School. On August 17, 1963 she was united in marriage to Gerald Bayless at Tatum Chapel Baptist Church in rural Springfield.
Dixie worked as a Real Estate Agent in her beloved Washington, Mo. She often commented that she wouldn’t want to live anywhere else. She enjoyed traveling and her flower garden. Dixie was a spirited soul, shopping expert, and loved her family fiercely.
Dixie was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings: James Richard Lane and Sharon Kay Gosseck and one brother-in-law, George Arnett.
Dixie is survived by her husband of 61 years, Gerald Bayless, her two sons, Steven (Janet) Bayless of Camdenton, Mark (Julie) Bayless of Washington, grandchildren Elane (James) Ennis, Jamie (Dillon) Payne, and Kathrine Crider, and one great-grandchild Benjamin Ennis. She is also survived by her sisters Linda (William) Swadley, Carol (James) Cook, and Gaye Arnett, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home. Interment will be on Monday, July 14, 2025 at 11 a.m. at the Clear Creek Cemetery in Springfield, MO.
