Dennis Werner Obituary

Dennis Werner, a St. Louis native, born February 3, 1946, and Bishop DuBourg High School alumnus, passed away recently. He had a diverse and impactful career spanning education, business, and community service.

After graduating from Benedictine College with a BS in Education in 1968 and pursuing further studies at SEMO, Werner embarked on a long career in the beverage industry. His professional journey culminated in the establishment of his own multi-brand distributorship in 1979. As president of Werner Sales for 22 years, he demonstrated a strong commitment to community engagement through sponsorships of local sports teams and events.

Werner's multifaceted life included roles in education, coaching, refereeing, and transportation. He held a lifetime teaching certificate and worked with special needs students as a substitute teacher, paraprofessional, and bus monitor. His community involvement extended to serving on Washington's Planning and Zoning committee and being a member of the Elks, Knights of Columbus, Rotary Club, and Hummingbird club.

An avid outdoorsman, Werner enjoyed boating, scuba diving with his son, snow skiing, and traveling. These activities created lasting memories with his family and friends.

Dennis Werner is survived by his daughter Kate (Werner) Coulter, her husband Tom, and granddaughters Carly and Nora, all residing in Washington, MO. He is also survived by his brother Gary Werner and wife Kim Ott, nieces Martha Werner and Sarah (Mike) Symons all from Texas. His former wife, Lizabeth "Betty" Werner Washington, Sister-in-law Patricia Leonard Regal and nephew David Regal Jr. of New Jersey.  And family friends Scott, Kecia, Lucy, Grace, and Patrick McKinnis of Washington.

He was preceded in death by his son Todd Werner, parents Arthur and Virginia (Hukenbeck) Werner, Edgar 'Pop' Drain, and brother-in-law Dave Regal Sr.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, from 9-11 a.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home, with a memorial service beginning at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Todd Werner Memorial Scholarship for EMT students through the East Central College Foundation, honoring Dennis's commitment to education, community service, and family
