Delores Gardner Obituary

Delores B. Gardner 90, of Washington, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, Jan. 19th. Delores, daughter of the late John Breeden and Louise “Viola” nee Saak, was born February 19, 1932 in Washington, MO. She received her education from Washington High School. On May 05, 1951, she was united in marriage to James Gardner at St. Francis Borgia Church in Washington, MO.

She became widowed in 2008 and remained at her residence until recently when she moved to Oak Pointe of Washington assisted living. Delores worked for many years at Sporlan Valve, and later retired from Edison Brothers Distribution Center. Otherwise she dedicated her adult life to raising her four children and excelled as a homemaker and devoted wife to Jim.

Delores loved to play bingo and cards (especially poker) with her friends and family, and was a member of a small domino club in Washington. She loved visiting with family and cooking meals when they would gather at her house. She would make a variety of dishes but her specialty was lasagna where one serving just wasn’t enough. She also really enjoyed fishing and reeling in that big cat was always a dream of hers. Delores was a very loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Delores was preceded in death by her parents; husband James Gardner; siblings; John Breeden, Ken “Dutch” Breeden, Laverne Hasse, Dorothy “Dottie” Morrissey, and Carl “Corky” Breeden.

Among her survivors are three sons, Mark Gardner and wife Cheryl of Desloge, MO., Matthew Gardner and wife Lynn of Cortland OH., and Mitchell Gardner and wife Dixie of Wentzville, MO.; one daughter, Marcia Jankowski of St. Louis, MO. One sister, June Craig of Union, MO; One daughter-in-law, Vicky Morgan of St. Louis; thirteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren, other relatives, nieces, nephews, cousins, and loved ones. The family would also like to acknowledge the love and support of our parent’s dedicated neighbors David and Chris Dieckhaus.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 24th from 11:00am to 12:30pm at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 1:00 p.m. following the visitation at St. Francis Borgia Church. Interment will be at the St. Francis Borgia Cemetery.
