David Kindel Obituary

David L. Kindel, 81, of Washington, passed away on January 25, 2025. Mr. Kindel, son of the late Henry Kindel and Wilhelmina nee Unnerstall, was born on October 3, 1943, in St. Louis. He received his education from Eureka High School and a Master of Education from Southeast Missouri State University in 1968. On February 24, 1968, he was united in marriage to Patricia Boyce at St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church in St. Louis.

Mr. Kindel’s career included 35 years in education at the Meramec Valley School District in Pacific and 32 of those years were spent as a school administrator (Principal). After retirement from the school district, he worked for Southeast Missouri State University for 18 years supervising student teachers. 

Dave loved working outdoors, especially gardening, cutting firewood, and mowing the lawn. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia Kindel; son, Richard Kindel and brother, Henry “Hank” Kindel.

Among his survivors are his daughter, Judy Dorpinghaus and husband Mark of Washington; four grandchildren, Jacob Dorpinghaus and fiance Jamie Gentges of Wildwood, Laura Dorpinghaus of Kansas City, MO, Kayla Dorpinghaus of Columbia, MO, and Amanda Dorpinghaus of Columbia; In-laws, Dan Boyce and wife Mary Ann of Washingtn; loved ones and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at the St. Francis Borgia Church. Interment will be in the St. Mary’s Moselle Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the charity of choice.
