David F. Hoelscher, 83, of Washington, passed away on July 2, 2024. Mr. Hoelscher, son of the late Ferdinand Hoelscher and Marion nee Kleekamp, was born on January 7, 1941, in Krakow. He received his education from St. Gertrude’s Grade School. On May 26, 1962, he was united in marriage to JoAnn Ballmann at Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
Dave loved to grill and play cards, especially poker. He enjoyed fishing, spending time with his grandchildren, and watching the St. Louis Blues and Cardinals.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, JoAnn Hoelscher; three siblings, Darlene Ballmann, Rosalie Feldmann, and Norma Kohne; son-in-law, Charles Byrd and three brother-in-laws, Charles Ballmann, Bob Kohne, and Robert Steffens.
Among his survivors are his children, Terry Hoelscher of Washington, Cindy Byrd of Washington, and Peggy Brinkmann and husband David of Washington; siblings, Michael Hoelscher and wife Linda of Washington, Kenneth Hoelscher and wife Joyce of Krakow, Robert Hoelscher and wife Jeanne of Washington, Joannie Bleckman and husband Chuck of Washington, Nancy Steffens and Jim Schwaller of Washington, and Linda Kriete and husband Charles of Washington; brother-in-law, Charles Feldmann; grandchildren, Nathaniel Byrd and significant other Kim Strubberg, Lucas Brinkmann, Aaron Brinkmann, and Kayla Brinkmann; great-grandchildren, Vesper Byrd and Ember Strubberg; loved ones and friends.
A visitation will be held on Monday, July 8, 2024, from 4-7 p.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home. Memorial Mass will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at St. Francis Borgia Church. Memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or the St. Francis Borgia Church.
