David Dawson Obituary

David W. Dawson,81, of Washington, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025. Mr. Dawson, son of the late George Dawson and Alice nee Bradshaw, was born on August 9, 1944, in Washington. He received his education from Washington High School. On May 11, 1968, he was united in marriage to Jean Probst in Des Peres, MO. Mr. Dawson served his country honorably as a member of the United States Army.

David loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed tending to and working in his garden, drawing, and leather work. But most of all, he cherished the time he spent with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Mary Dawson nee Brigmann; siblings, Jack Dawson, Dolores Kluesner, George Dawson, Alice Coleman, Donna Fennessey; daughter-in-law, Kimberly Dawson, and brothers and sister-in-law, Robert Kluesner, Betty Dawson, Phillip Coleman, and James Fennessey.

Among his survivors are his wife, Jean Dawson of Washington; children, Angela Grellner and husband Ronald of Washington, Jeffrey Dawson and wife Anne of Cedar Falls, IA, and Matthew Dawson and fiancee Deanna Leible of Washington; siblings, William Dawson and wife Dianne of Franklin, TN and John Dawson and wife Molly of Leslie, MO: grandchildren, Christopher Grellner and wife Olivia, Joshua Grellner, Jacob Grellner, Owen Dawson and wife Abigail, Lauren Dawson, Isaac Dawson and wife Araceli, Lydia Dawson, Marcus Dawson, and Andrew Dawson; two great-grandchildren, Eden and Leila Dawson; sister-in-law, Diana Dawson; loved ones and many friends.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, from 4-7 p.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home. Funeral Service will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 17, 2025, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Washington. Interment, with full military honors will be at the church cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the Immanuel Lutheran School.
