David C. Buschmeyer, 73 , of Washington, passed away on February 15, 2023 at his home. David, son of the late Edwin Buschmeyer and Mildred nee Gaertner, was born on November 15, 1949 in Hermann. David was a graduate of Swiss Elementary School, 1967 graduate of Hermann High School, and a 1975 graduate of Linn Technical College.
On April 20, 1974, he was united in marriage to Mary Horstmann at St. Paul’s Church in Berger. To this union, one son was born, Chad M. Buschmeyer. David served his country honorably as a member of the United States Army in Vietnam, from July 22, 1969 to February 23, 1971. He retired from the US Postal Service on May 30, 2001.
David loved to restore tractors, trucks, and cars. He also enjoyed woodworking, old tyme country music, spending time with family and friends, and attending swap meets.
Mr. Buschmeyer was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Earl Buschmeyer; sister, Lori Buschmeyer; sister-in-law, Linda Horstmann and mother and father-in-law, Elmer and Dorothy Horstmann.
Among his survivors are his wife, Mary Buschmeyer of Washington; son, Chad Buschmeyer; two brothers, Wayne Buschmeyer and wife Virginia and Maynard Buschmeyer and wife Pat; sister, June Diebal and husband Bill; brothers and sisters-in-law, Norbert Horstmann and wife Dorine, Ron Horstmann and wife Bonnie, and Donna Scheidegger and husband Gary; many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A visitation will be held on Monday, February 20, 2023 from 9-11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Church in Berger, with the Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11 a.m. Interment, with full military honors will be at the church cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the St. Paul’s Church Ladies Sodality.
