David Batson Sr. Obituary

David L. Batson Sr., 74 , of Union, passed away on July 17, 2020. Mr. Batson, son of the late Charles Batson and his wife Ann NEE Prewett, was born December 27, 1945 in Granite City, IL. David served his country honorably as a member of the United States Army. He retired from Ameren MO as an electrician after 41 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; former wife, Sue Batson NEE Ray and special extended family member, Caden Moss, 16 , in April of 2020.

Among his survivors are his son, David Batson Jr. and wife Michele of Washington; special friend, Linda Minnigerode of Owensville; sister, Cheryl Schortz and husband George of Agoura Hills, CA; grandchildren, Zachary and Lynsey Batson; step-sister, Tammy Doty of Granite City, IL; niece, Linda Schortz of California; nephew and great nephew, Jim and J.D. Krauskopf of Stevenson Ranch, CA; special extended family members, Elisa, Joe, and Nick Minnigerode, Haley Ryan, Lydia Minnigerode, and Lainey Moss; and many friends.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 from 4-7 P.M. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home, with a funeral service beginning at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, July 23, 2020 at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home. Interment with full military honors will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Franklin County Honor Flight or to the Siteman Cancer Center.
