Darlene Emmaline Becker (nee Cowan), 89, of Labadie, MO passed away January 18th, 2024. Darlene was born September 27, 1934, in Leslie, MO to Albert and Viola (nee Weirich) Cowan. She is a 1952 Washington High School graduate. Darlene was united in marriage to Emmett Charles Becker on Sept 4, 1954 in Gray Summit, MO.
Darlene loved to cook. There wasn't much she couldn't conquer in the kitchen. The whole family loved her "famous" custard pie the best. She helped teach most of us how to make apple butter every year as well. She was the official taste tester, that way we got it right. She was also very active in her church, Pilgrim UCC of Labadie for many years.
She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Emmett Becker, Labadie, MO. One daughter, Janet (Patrick) Cunniff, Madison, MO. Two sons: Charles (Trisha) Becker, Valrico, FL and Glen (Donna) Becker, Labadie, MO. One bonus daughter, Beth Norton, Union, MO. Nine grandchildren: Sean (Laura) Cunniff, Southern Pines, NC, Erin (Chris) Keogh, Salem, MO, Mindy (Cory) Thurman, St. Clair, MO, Taylor Becker, Valrico, FL, Danny (Kimi) Cunniff, Las Vegas NV, Jacquelyn Becker, Valrico, FL, Michael Zappulla, O'Fallon, MO, Matthew Hess, PA and Jennifer Hess, Tampa, FL. Nine great grandchildren: Mackenzie Cunniff, Southern Pines, NC, Nikolas, Aubree, Alexa Keogh, Salem, MO and Skylar, Ava Thurman, St. Clair, MO, Alicia Zappulla, O'Fallon, MO, Destini, Isabella Hess, Tampa, FL. One sister, Rose (Frank) Duckett, Williamsburg, VA. Four brothers: Bill (Karen) Cowan, Union, MO, Cal (Janice) Cowan, Republic, MO, Ron (Jane) Cowan, Washington, MO and Rick (Maunawaun) Cowan, McKinney, TX. Along with many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by one son, George Becker. Along with her parents, Albert and Viola (nee Weirich) Cowan.
Visitation will be Monday, January 22, 2024, from 4pm-7pm at Nieburg-Vitt-Miller Funeral Home: 1206 Jefferson St. Washington, MO. Funeral service will be Tuesday, January 23, 2024, starting at 10 am at Pilgrim UCC: 301 Academy St. Labadie, MO.
Burial following directly after service at Bethel Cemetery: Hwy T in Labadie, MO
