Clarence Elbert Obituary

Clarence C. Elbert, 95 , of Washington, passed away on September 3, 2021. Mr. Elbert, son of the late John P. Elbert and his wife Mary nee Schlitt, was born on July 16, 1926. He received his education from St. Gertrude’s School.

Clarence began working as soon as he was done attending school, at a shoe factory in Union. After 5 years there, he decided it was time to become a full time farmer at the family farm he grew up on, located off of Hwy YY. Farming was his passion and taking care of the land and animals was what he lived for. When he wasn’t farming, he was spending time with his family.

He was a member of the St. Gertrude’s Church and the WCU.

Mr. Elbert was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Hermina Diener and husband Elmer, John J. Elbert and wife Verona, Ralph Elbert and brother-in-law, Wilfred Marquart.

Among his survivors are his sister, Rose Marquart of Washington; nieces, Kathleen Metcalf and husband Thomas of Washington, Joan Gildehaus and husband James of Washington, and Sharon Kloeppel and husband Raymond of New Haven; nephews, David Elbert and wife Suson of Union, Robert Elbert of Washington,and Michael Elbert of Union; great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, step great-nieces and nephews, step great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2021 from 9-10:30 A.M. at the St. Gertrude’s Church, with a Funeral Mass beginning at 10:30 A.M. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the St. Gertrude’s Church, School, or Masses.

**Masks will be required to attend the services.
