Chevy Allen Anthony Gall,16, of Beaufort, passed away on April 4, 2025. Chevy, son of Rocky Gall Jr. and Sarah nee Johnston, was born on June 4, 2008, in Washington. Chevy was a Junior at Union High School and the Four Rivers Career Center.
Firefighter Chevy Gall began his service with the Beaufort-Leslie Fire Protection District in November 2024. Tragically, he lost his life in the line of duty, succumbing to injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident while responding to the fire station for an emergency call—a water rescue—during heavy rain and widespread flooding.
From the moment Chevy joined the department, he embraced the fire service with remarkable passion and dedication. His love for the job was immediate and genuine. According to his parents, being a firefighter brought a constant smile to his face and gave him a new sense of purpose. He was proud to serve his community and eager to help others in their time of need.
Chevy had completed training in both fire suppression and water/ice rescue operations—the very type of call he was responding to at the time of his passing. His commitment to learning and preparing for every challenge exemplified his selfless spirit and devotion to the department.
Outside of the firehouse, Chevy was known for his love of the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. He was passionate about trucks and cars, simultaneously studying auto collision repair at Four Rivers Career Center while apprenticing with Auto Body Brothers and attending Union High School in his junior year.
Besides serving his community as a firefighter, he gave back in countless ways. Chevy was a Shriners Ambassador, proudly supporting the mission of the Shriners organization and recently organizing a truck meet to raise funds in honor of a high school friend who had passed away in an auto accident. He also helped coach his younger brother’s T-ball team—and was described by his family as an “old soul” who loved classic country music.
Chevy Gall’s life was defined by service, compassion, and a deep sense of community. The impact he made will never be forgotten.
He was preceded in death by two grandmothers, Diane Johnston and Sharon Gall; uncle Eddy, Aunt Debbie, and special friend, Isaac Lashley.
Among his survivors are his parents, Rocky and Sarah Gall of Beaufort; siblings, Malia Gall and Fiance Mack Reeves of Beaufort and Cash Gall of Beaufort; grandparents, Rocky Gall Sr. of Beaufort and Tom Johnston of Festus; great-grandfather, Phillip Fowler of Lander, WY; aunts and uncles, Crystal, Jennifer, Tommy, Katie, Lee, Charlie, Jordan, Joey, Chianne, Luke, Katie, Jake, Alicia, and many friends at Union High School and the Four Rivers Career Center.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Life Stream Church in Washington, with a funeral service beginning at 1 p.m. Memorial donations can be given to the Beaufort-Leslie Fire Dept.
Arrangements in care of Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home, Washington.
