Charles R. Mantle, 91, of Washington, passed away on November 17, 2023. Mr. Mantle, son of the late Raymond Mantle and Helen nee Neier, was born on October 15, 1932 in Washington. He received his education from St. Francis Borgia High School. On September 29, 1956, he was united in marriage to Leola Marquart at St. Gertrude’s Church in Krakow.
Mr. Mantle served his country honorably as a member of the United States Navy. Charlie loved to dance, hang out at the club house, being outdoors, and play cards. He enjoyed attending his kids and grandkids sporting events. He also liked feeding birds and any neighborhood wildlife. Charlie was witty and resourceful and could fix anything with duct tape. He retired from the United States Postal Service. Charles was very strong in his catholic faith and was a member of the St. Francis Borgia Parish.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Joe Trieschmann; wife, Leola nee Marquart; brother, Maurice Mantle, and son-in-law, Gary Farhat.
Among his survivors are his children, Shelly Farhat of Michigan, Glenda Pohtos and husband Jim of Washington, Danny Mantle and wife Rose of Washington, Charles Mantle and wife Janice of Union, David Mantle and wife Debbie of Union, Michael Mantle and wife Shelley of Union, Alan Mantle of Washington, Angela Licklider and husband Robert of Washington, Marty Mantle and wife Kris of Ellisville; grandchildren, Amanda Bingham and husband Brad, Kimberlee Sharrard and husband Jimmy, Matthew Farhat and wife Meaghan, Christopher Pohtos, Chloe Pohtos and Dontrelle Busby, Kyle Mantle and wife Jessica, Kate Nold and husband Nathan, Kelly Fowler and husband Connor, Collin Mantle, Andria Mantle, Phillip Mantle and fiance Becca Hickman, Lilli Mantle and Andrea Motto, Leigha Mantle and fiance Garrett Frye, Brady Licklider, Lucas Licklider, Maggie Licklider, Devin Mantle, Ava Mantle, and Connor Mantle; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Harper, Evelyn, Harrison, Isaac, Kysen, Brynn, Porter, Cooper, Lennon, Cameron, Elliott, and Palmer; step-grandson, Adam Lewis and wife Jen; step great-grandchildren, Bradley, Lia, and Brayden; nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, in-laws, and many friends.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 26, 2023 from 4-7 p.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home. Memorial mass will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 27, 2023 at St. Francis Borgia Church. Memorial donations can be made to the VFW Post 2661, St. Francis Borgia Grade School, or Masses.
