Charles “Mike” Carman, 85, of Washington, passed away on July 12, 2023. Mike, son of the late Charles F. Carman and Katherine nee Walde, was born on January 27, 1938 in St. Louis. He received his education from St. Francis Borgia. On May 17, 1997, he was united in marriage to Barbara Graff at St. Francis Borgia Church. Mike served his country honorably as a member of the United States Marine Corps.
Mike was active in Washington Soccer Association, Washington Volunteer Fire Department and a Scout Master for Troop 439. He enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing, and spending time with family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Barbara Carman.
Among his survivors are his children, Kevin Carman and wife Lisa of Union, Luann Bockhorst and husband Jim of New Haven, Steve Carman and wife Teresa of St. Charles, Kelly Knehans and significant other Keith Hattemar of Union, Melissa Calvin and husband Wayne of Villa Ridge; two step daughters, Nicole Saindon of Huntsville, Alabama and Renee Russas of Bronx, NY; grandchildren, Deanna Carman, Jeffrey Carman and wife Jessica, Katherine Jordan and husband Daniel, Nicholas Carman, Jacob Carman and wife Beccah, Sarah Berron and husband John, Dr. Brittany Bockhorst and husband Andrew Leet, Erika Barrow and husband John, Katherine Winn and husband Alex, Tyler Carman, Cameron Davis, Philip Carman, Gretchen Carman, Caden Maupin, Chloe Knehans, Kayla Calvin, Dominic Calvin, and Ariel Calvin; great-grandchildren, Emilia Carman, Maximus Carman, Lucy Berron, Jack Berron, Maddox Leet, Aiden Leet, Rosalie Barrow, Adalyn Barrow, Isabella Barrow, Charlotte Barrow, and Charles Carman; other relatives and many friends.
A visitation will be held on Monday, July 17, 2023 from 3-7 p.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home. Memorial Mass will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at St. Francis Borgia Church. Interment, with full military honors will be held at St. Francis Borgia Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to New Haven Hospice Care or Boy Scout Troop 439.
