Carlos M. Flores, 74 , of Washington, passed away on May 10, 2022. Carlos, son of the late Jesus Flores and Petra Rosas, was born on August 3, 1947 in Mexico City, Mexico. He received his education from McKinley High School in St. Louis and earned a degree in horticulture from UMSL and enjoyed teaching classes at the Missouri Botanical Gardens.
Mr. Flores served his country honorably as a member of the United States Army, 27th Infantry Wolfhound Pack and the 101st Airborne in Vietnam. He was also awarded a Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
He was an avid collector of stamps and coins and his favorite activity was spending time with his "Little Monsters" (grandchildren). He never met a stranger or missed an opportunity to tell a story.
He was preceded in death by his parents and many siblings.
Among his survivors are his children, Mateo Flores and wife Nikki of Washington and Petra Engemann and husband Luke of Washington; siblings, Daniel Flores and wife Maria Elena of St. Louis and Carmen Rosas of St. Louis; five grandchildren, Vance, Lucius, and Sloan Flores and Riley and Eliza Engemann; other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
