Bruce Bonney Obituary

Bruce T Bonney born October 14, 1946 to the late Mr. & Mrs. Thomas F. and Marie D. (nee Fitchell) Bonney.  Bruce passed away June 3, 2021 survived by his wife of 35 years Joanne F. Bonney (Vien) of Washington, MO; Daughters: Tracy (Rob) Boatright of Leslie, MO; Carrie Bonney of Dayton, OR; Anna (Rob) Baldesi of St. Louis, MO; Krista (Dave) Van De Wiele of St. Clair, MO; Son: Nicholas (Tiffany) Kuhn of O’Fallon, MO. One Brother Richard (Patty) Bonney of Chesterfield, MO and One Sister Barbara Bonney of Troy, MO.  Grand Children: Alex, Tyler, Michael, Abby, Maddy, Kaitlynn, and Nicholas Jr. Great Grand Children: Allana, Asher, Gabriel and Lawrence.  Several Nieces and Nephews.

 

 

Bruce was a decorated St. Louis Police officer.  Detective Bruce T. Bonney, received his commission on 07/29/1968. Upon completion of the academy, he served in the following districts and specialized divisions throughout his career. They were the 7th, 4th, Mobile Reserve Section, 5th, Bureau of Investigation-5th District, and finally the 5th District Detective Bureau. During his career Detective Bonney was the recipient of 2 Chief Letters of Commendation on 12/09/1972, and 09/23/1983. Both of these awards were for police work above and beyond the call of duty. Detective Bonney retired on 11/21/1988 having served 20.31 years of faithful and dedicated service to the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department.  He loved the job so much, after retirement from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, he went on to serve in the Valley Park Police Department from 1988-1999.  His final tour was with the Shelbina Police Department from 1999-2011.

 

Anyone who knew Bruce knew he was a man of few words but when he spoke you listened.

 

The family has chosen direct cremation. A memorial service will be announced at a later date and time.
