Blake I. Georgie, 70, of Washington, passed away at his home on March 29, 2025. Blake was born in St. Louis on July 5, 1954, in St. Louis to Russel C and Thelma Virginia "Ginny", nee Gragg, Georgie. He was baptized and confirmed by his grandfather at Independent Congregation Church, St. Louis, and received his education from Hazelwood High School in 1973.
Blake enjoyed time with his family and gathering with friends. He played drums professionally and developed a passion for genealogy. He was proud of his cars and was a dirt track driver. He was an avid fan of football and hockey. Prior to retirement, he worked as a painter, HelpDesk supervisor at IBM, and as a general laborer.
He was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Carla Gildehaus, nee Bunge, on February 11, 2001.
Blake is survived by his wife Carla Georgie of Washington, four children, Christopher Georgie of Richmond, KY, Brian Georgie of St. Louis, Sara Rice and husband Josh of Cedar Hill, MO, and Tiffany Georgie of St. Louis; two step-children whom he loved as his own, Crystal Pehle and husband Ryhan of New Haven and Bradley Gildehaus and wife Jamie of New Haven; Nine grandchildren, Aubree and Carter Rice; Isaiah Jones; Sophia Smith; Drew, Landen, and Payten Gildehaus; Elijah and Ethan Pehle; A beloved nephew, Eddie Georgie and wife Cindy of Elsberry; and their children Laticia, Amy, Danielle, Tim, Emily, Matt, and Tom Georgie; father-in-law Oron "Sonny" Borcherding of New Haven, two brothers-in-law, John Bunge and wife Pam of Stonyhill, and James Bellamy of New Haven, special uncle, Bill Meyer of New Haven, nephew David Briegleb and wife Chris, sister-in-law Pat Georgie and niece Cheryl Georgie, as well as other loved ones and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents, Rev. Ira T. Gragg and wife Thelma and Charles Georgie and wife Anna; sister and brother-in-law, Leslie and husband Chuck Briegleb; brother, Gragg Georgie; mother-in-law, Dolly Borcherding and sister-in-law, Debbie Bellamy.
Visitations will be held in Washington on Friday, April 4, 2025, from 4-8 p.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home and from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at St. Peter’s U.C.C. A Memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at St. Peter’s U.C.C. in Washington, officiated by Pastor Kurt Schaller Blaufuss. A private graveside service will be held at a later date at St. Peter’s U.C.C. Cemetery in Washington. Memorial donations can be made to St. Peter's UCC or to the family.
