Billy Ray Rhodes, 93, of Washington, MO passed away on June 8, 2020. Billy, the son of the late Grover Lee Rhodes and Erma Lucille Rhodes, nee Jones, was born on July 13, 1926, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He graduated from Illmo, MO High School. Billy was a World War II veteran, serving his country in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946. On October 9, 1947, he married his wife Emma Magdalene, nee Pinkston, in Fornfelt, MO, at the now Scott City Methodist Church. Billy worked as a purchasing manager for Allied Chemical Corp. and U.S. Steel Corp. until 1986, and he was a truck weight inspector for the Illinois State Police until he retired in May 1995. He later worked at the Cape Girardeau, MO Lowe’s Store from September 1996 to May 1998. He was a former member of the Emeth Lodge #1030 A.F. & A.M., the Moose Lodge in Cahokia, IL, and a current member of the VFW Post 6407, Scott City, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Erma Lucille Rhodes, brother, Grover Glen Rhodes, and wife, Emma Rhodes.
He is survived by his two children, Keith Alan Rhodes of Washington, MO and David Lee Rhodes of Southlake, TX; grandchildren, Jill Nicole Wallace of Prosper, TX, Jamie Lee Rhodes of Southlake TX, Joshua Robert-Ray Rhodes of Southlake, TX, Jake Slade Rhodes of Washington, MO and Pierre Roberto Eyre of Pevely, MO; great grandchildren, Jayden David Wallace and Kylee Madison Wallace.
A burial with military honors will be held at Lightner Cemetery on September 19th, in Scott City, Missouri.
