August Bargen Obituary

August (Gus) T. Bargen, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather died surrounded by his wife Rosalie (nee Nowak) and family on Holy Saturday, April 16, 2022. He was 91 years old.

Gus was the son of August Sr. and Carrie Bargen, of Casco, Missouri. He was the youngest of 12 children.

A devout Catholic, Fourth Degree (Knights of Columbus) Knight, Cardinal fan, and member of St. Francis Borgia Parish, he will be most remembered and missed for his kind heart, contagious smile, caring ways, and happy-go-lucky, outgoing spirit that established friendships with all those he had the pleasure to meet. Gus felt blessed to be married to Rosalie for close to 68 years and to be part of such a big family. He found pride in providing for so many, teaching them the balance of working hard and having fun. He celebrated life simply with time spent together with his family, trips to the Washington riverfront, listening to Cardinal games on his patio, playing bingo, relaxing at his land watching wildlife, managing the gates at Borgia football games, listening to music at KC picnics, helping with fish fries, and so much more. Gus was a great listener, and he loved the history that life taught him. He especially loved hearing stories from his kids and telling stories to his grandkids and great grandkids. He was so proud and felt so blessed to live his gift of life to the fullest.

Gus is survived by his wife, Rosalie, daughter, Connie and Joseph Rigg, daughter, Carol and Mike Bunton, son, Roger and Sharon Bargen, daughter, Christine and Randall Wilson, son, Randy and Christine Bargen, son, Russell Bargen, daughter, Charlotte Bargen, son, Robin and Brenda Bargen, daughter, Carleen and Chris Moritz, daughter, Cheryl and David Howell, daughter Cathy Bargen, and daughter, Carrie Bargen. Grandchildren Jason and Steven Rigg, Laura Granneman and Joshua Bunton, Brent and Brandi Bargen, Matthew Wilson, Nathan and Katie Bargen, Megan and Brianna Moritz, Jeremy, Ian, and Ella Howell, and Jackson Kerr. Great-grandchildren, Anthony and Teresa Rigg, Haley and Travis Granneman, Blake and Hunter Bargen, Noah, Alexis, and Sydney Wilson and sister, Lydia Groce.

Gus was preceded in death by his siblings, Alvin, Otto, Oscar, Edward, Raymond, Harold, Rose, Alice, Mildred and Marie, daughter Mary Rose, and grandchildren Jennifer Bargen and Kyle Kerr.

Gus is loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.
