Arlene A. Zoellner, 92, of Washington, passed away on March 7, 2024. Mrs. Zoellner, daughter of the late Bernard Tobben and Agnes nee Unnerstall, was born on January 7, 1932, in Washington. She received her education from St. Francis Borgia High School. On February 19, 1955, she was united in marriage to Paul Zoellner at St. Francis Borgia Church.
Through a life well lived, Arlene was first and foremost a wife and mother who always put family above all else. Arlene loved the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team, rarely missing a game. She also enjoyed watching Jeopardy and painting by numbers. Arlene, in addition to raising her six children, was a working mom, most notably serving many years as the school secretary in the Washington Public School System at South Point Elementary. She also gave of her time to the community through volunteering at Mercy Hospital, the St Francis Borgia Food Pantry and Encore Resale Shop benefitting the ministries of St. Francis Borgia Parish.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul Zoellner; four brothers, Leonard Tobben, Vern Tobben, Bob Tobben and Bill Tobben; a sister, Margaret Tobben; two sisters-in-law, Lillian Tobben, Mary Tobben, and brother-in-law, John Struckhoff.
Among her survivors are her children, Mark Zoellner and partner Michelle Weis of Salt Lake City, UT, Nancy Zoellner of St. Louis, Patrick Zoellner and wife Janice of Labadie, Daniel Zoellner and wife Michelle of Fenton, John Zoellner and wife Julie of Gilbert, AZ, and Timothy Zoellner and wife Frances of San Diego, CA; sister, Rita Struckhoff; grandchildren, Madelyn Zoellner, Max Zoellner, Laurin Willets, Nolan Zoellner, Andrea Zoellner, Hannah Bond, Joe Zoellner, Jake Zoellner, Jack Zoellner, and Alexa Zoellner; great-grandchildren, Drew Zoellner, Patrick Zoellner, June Willets, and Rosie Willets; sister-in-law, Marlene Tobben; loved ones and many friends.
A visitation will be held on March 22, 2024, from 8-9:30 a.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home. Memorial Mass will begin at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Borgia Church. Memorial donations can be made to the St. Francis Borgia Church or the American Cancer Society.
