Alfred Spreckelmeyer Obituary

Alfred F. Spreckelmeyer, 94, of Washington, MO, passed away on January 8, 2025, at the New Haven Care Center surrounded by his family. Alfred, son of the late Frederick Spreckelmeyer and Theodora nee Hoerschgen, was born on November 21, 1930, in Washington, MO. He received his education from St. Francis Borgia High School. Mr. Spreckelmeyer served his country honorably as a Corporal in the United States Army, during the Korean War. On May 19, 1956, he was united in marriage to Eileen Vahrenberg at the St. Francis Borgia Church.

Alfred was employed by Boeing, where he retired. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, bowling, and woodworking. Alfred enjoyed going on yearly Lake of the Ozark vacations with his family, and after retirement loved taking bus trips with his wife Eileen. He also cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren and attending their sporting and school events.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Eileen Spreckelmeyer; two siblings, Joan Voss, and Ann Spreckelmeyer; two brothers-in-laws, James Ziegerer and Norbert Voss, and great-granddaughter, Emma.

Among his survivors are his children, Donna Buchholz and husband Alvie of Washington, David Spreckelmeyer and wife Mary of Washington, Kevin Spreckelmeyer and special friend Donna Aff of Washington, Linda Shelton and husband Andrew of Washington, Paul Spreckelmeyer of Washington, and Jill Schuler and husband Larry of Washington; sister, Lois Ziegerer of Washington; grandchildren, Wendy Wisdom and husband Daniel, Joshua Buchholz and wife Tiffany, Kristy Ziegelmeyer and husband Ricky, Scott Spreckelmeyer, Jamie Spreckelmeyer and special friend Chris, Ashley Pehle and husband Chris, Kelsey Spreckelmeyer, Dakota Spreckelmeyer, Amanda Barron and husband Jason, Jeremy Shelton and wife Sarah, Jena Spreckelmeyer, Owen Spreckelmeyer, Ryan Spreckelmeyer, Jacob Schuler and fiancé Kate, Justin Schuler and fiancé Rose; fifteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Vivian Vahrenberg; loved ones and friends.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, from 4-7 p.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at the St. Francis Borgia Church. Interment with full military honors will be at the St. Francis Borgia cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Francis Borgia food pantry or American Legion Post 218, Washington, MO.
