Son of the late Henry F. Noelke and wife Rose B. nee Gerritsen, Al was born in Washington, MO where he graduated from St. Francis Borgia High School in 1947. On August 27, 1949, he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Doris Ann Flake. The couple happily celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary in August 2022.

First and foremost, Al was a devoted husband and father. With the business having roots in Downtown Washington, Al was involved in many of Downtown Washington Inc.’s activities. He was a steadfast business leader in jewelry and gifts.

Al developed a love of sports that began in high school where he played on the varsity basketball team all four years. Later he served as a member of the Borgia Athletic Association, a committee member of the Washington Buds baseball team, a coach for little league baseball teams, and a boy scout leader. He always made time to play pitch and catch with sons Mike and Tom, teaching them skills and offering encouragement.
