Alfred Marquart Obituary

Alfred Aloys Marquart, 85, Washington, passed away February 1, 2022, at Union, MO, with loving family at his side.

Mr. Marquart was born June 20, 1936, on the family farm at Krakow, MO, the son of Frank Marquart, and wife Rose, nee Schmitt.

He attended St. Gertrude's School, Krakow, received his GED in the US Marine Corps.  He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for three years, attaining the rank of sergeant, and was honorably discharged.

He was united in marriage to Genevieve Luecke on April 4, 1959, at Assumption Church, New Haven, Missouri

Mr. Marquart was a member of St. Francis Borgia Church in Washington, Life member of K of C Council #1121, Washington, Western Catholic Union Branch 209, Life Member of Max W. Mueller VFW Post #2661 of Washington, 50+ year member of Carpenters' Local #1839, and of the Disabled American Veterarns.

He is survived by his wife, Genevieve Marquart, nee Luecke, and by four children, son, Gary Marquart and wife Karen of Washington, three daughters, Laura Kleekamp and husband, Ken, Olathe, Kansas, Louise Parker and husband Brad, Union, and  Dr. Mary Marquart and husband Michael Krider, Jackson, Mississippi, by sister, Frances Meade, Washington, bother, Frank Marquart and wife Rosemary, Femme Osage, sister, Gertrude Katzung and husband Joe brother, Roman Marquart and wife Linda, brother, Raymond Marquart and wife, Pat, and brother, Edward Marquart and wife, Donna, all of Washington. six grandchildren, Derek Marquart and wife Meghan, New Haven, Ross Marquart, Washington. Deanna Hill and husband Nick of New Haven, Gwen Hampton and husband Brennan of Lee’s Summit, MO, Keith Kleekamp, Paducah, KY and Kelly Kleekamp, Sioux Falls, SD;  one great grandson, Connor Marquart of New Haven, two future great-granddaughters to be born in March and June,  by sisters-in-law, Rose Marquart, of Washington, and Geraldine Williams and husband Charles, Knob Noster, MO,  brother-in-law, Charles Mantle, Washington, God children, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Mr. Marquart was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Rose Marquart; three brothers, Ralph and wife Catherine Marquart, Wilfred Marquart, and John Marquart, and by four sisters, Alverna Marquart, Mary Ann Kraft , Leola Mantle and Lillian Nieder, by five brothers-in-law, Martin Kraft, Jerome Nieder, Melvin Meade, Norbert and Anna Marie Luecke Charles and Linda Luecke

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 6, 2022 from 3-7 p.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home.

Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, February 7, 2022 at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Borgia Church.  Burial will be private.  After Mass, a reception for family and friends will be at Washington VFW, 813 Jefferson St. Washington.  

 In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to St. Francis Borgia Parish, VFW Post #2661 of Washington, Heartland Hospice of Union, Franklin County Honor Flight, or charity of choice,
