William "Bill" H. Verdine

William “Bill” H.  Verdine, RPh, age 75, of Washington, passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was born on February 28, 1943, to the late Herman and Mildred (nee Bracht) Verdine in St. Louis. Bill and his family moved to Washington from St. Louis in 1954 and became members of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ. He graduated from Washington High School in 1961 and attended and graduated from St. Louis College of Pharmacy. On August 9, 1969, Bill married Judy Loreman in Stromsburg, Nebraska. He worked at Schroeder’s Pharmacy for 47 years as a pharmacist and was an owner from 1989 to 2008. He was a kind, caring, gentle, and dedicated worker, employer, and pharmacist who took his role as a helper to heart. Bill was an attentive father who made time for supporting his children’s dreams; it was important to him that they had every opportunity available so they could be the people they aspired to be. He treasured every moment he had with his beloved children and grandchildren and loved to enjoy life with his wife Judy. Together they created beautiful stained-glass artwork, traveled to all fifty states, and relaxed on cruises and in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He was a member of the St. Louis College of Pharmacy Mortar & Pestle Society, board member on the Washington School Board for 6 years, and held many board officer positions, including Church Council President, at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 3, 2018, at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, visitation with Bill’s family will follow in the Church auditorium. A private burial will be held later at the Church cemetery. Memorial donations are appreciated to the St. Peter’s United Church of Christ Building Fund (please make checks payable to St. Peter’s UCC).

Bill is survived by his wife, Judy Verdine of Washington; two children, Benjamin Verdine, MD and wife Diane of Washington and Elizabeth Frick-Verdine and husband Adam of St. Louis; one sister, Judy Scannell and husband Jim of Washington; one sister-in-law, Pat Blasi and husband Ed of Colorado; one brother-in-law, Larry Loreman and wife Eva of Kansas; six grandchildren, Elinor, Henry, Olive, Ingrid, Camille, and Frida; other relatives, and many treasured and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Jean Paul.
