William Thornton Obituary

William R. Thornton, 88 , of Union, passed away on June 16, 2019 in Washington. Mr. Thornton, son of the late George Thornton and his wife Blanche NEE Linn was born August 4, 1930 in Des Moines, Iowa. He received his education from Iowa St. University. William was united in marriage to Lucinda Mullinax on September 30, 1981.  Mr. Thornton had several careers. He was a pharmaceutical salesman for 20 years with Marion Laboratories, real estate broker/general manager for Gundaker Realty for 15 years, owner of Shady Oaks Resort at the Lake of the Ozarks, a Co-Pastor of the Greater Works Church in Eugene, MO, then as a house husband in his retirement. Bill was an unforgettable kind of guy, always asking questions to get to know you.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, William Thornton Jr. and one sister, Margie Ann Thornton.

Among his survivors are his wife Lucinda G. Thornton of Union; children, Kendra Kay Thornton Bruno of Bellevue, WA, Joseph A. Thornton of Glendale, MO, and Alanna B. Thornton-Gregg of Affton, MO; four grandchildren, Charlee Marie, Judah Wayne, Sophia Jo, and Lorelai Lucy; three nieces and many friends.

Everyone will gather together to fellowship and honor Bill  on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at 10:30 A.M. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home, with visiting hours from 9:30-10:30 A.M. on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the St. Louis Children’s Hospital.
