Ronald Pate Obituary

Ronald L. Pate, 62, of Washington, passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at Cedarcrest Manor. Ron was born on May 29, 1955, in St. Louis to the late Harry E. and Mary Ellen (nee Volkerding) Pate. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and was an avid sports fan. He especially loved following and cheering for the St. Louis Blues and Cardinals and watching NFL football.

 

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM on Monday, May 21, 2018, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Church cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, May 20, from 3 until 7 pm at Miller Funeral Home. Memorial donations are appreciated to Paraquad, a St. Louis based organization that empowers people with disabilities to increase their independence through choice and opportunity.

 

He is survived by two sisters, Yvonne Schickler and husband Joe of Washington and Rachelle Pate of Washington; three nephews and one niece, John E. Schickler, Jennifer Ellen Schickler, Justin E. Schickler, and Jeremy A. Pate; one great-nephew, Evan Richard; a special friend, Mary Kay Sokolich of St. Louis; other relatives, and friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Mary Ellen Pate, and one brother, Paul A. Pate.
