Maxine Johnson Obituary

Maxine E. Johnson, age 89, of Washington, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, October 12, 2018.  Maxine, the daughter of the late Matthew and Marian (nee Zoulek) Reay was born September 6, 1929 in Traverse City, Michigan.  She was united in marriage to Kenneth L. Johnson on November 20, 1950 in Traverse City.

Maxine was dedicated to her family and church, she was a longtime member of St. Francis Borgia Church and St. Francis Borgia Ladies Sodality serving in many capacities, including Vice President. She also volunteered many years with the Mercy Hospital Auxiliary serving as Past President and spent countless hours offering assistance to Meals on Wheel.

A Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 am Monday, October 15, 2018 from St. Francis Borgia Church in Washington.  Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.  A visitation will be held 4:00-8:00 pm Sunday, October 14, 2018 from Miller Funeral Home.  Memorial donations may be made to St. Francis Borgia Grade School.

Maxine is survived by four children; Kenneth and wife Brenda Johnson of Washington; Nancy and husband Tom Muolf of East Lansing, Michigan; Elizabeth Massey of Washington and Mary and husband Craig Cole of Krakow, two siblings, Marilyn and husband Don Smith and Martin and wife Connie Reay all of Michigan, nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Kenneth L. Johnson, one brother Matthew “Brud” Reay and one daughter Patricia Ann Johnson.
