Marcelline F. G’Schwind (nee Hirst), 88, of New Haven, Missouri passed away at New Haven Care Center on Saturday, February 2, 2019. She was born on March 13, 1930, to the late Albert and Fern (nee Snyder) Hirst in Denver, Colorado. She spent her entire childhood and her young adulthood in the Denver area, where she met and married the love of her life, the late Robert Karl G’Schwind, on January 12, 1963. Marcelline was a talented artist across many mediums: paper, canvas, and fiber. The longevity of the garments she made were a testament to her abilities as a seamstress, as Robert enjoyed often wearing a vest she’d made for him for over 30 years! Although the color may have faded with the years, it was well made and wore well with time. Marcelline loved to share her love of art with her grandchildren, often spending countless hours helping them with craft projects.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at Miller Funeral Home, 1206 Jefferson St., Washington, Missouri from 4 until 8 pm. A committal service will be held on Friday, February 8, 2019, at 1:30 pm at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, Nebraska. Memorial donations are appreciated to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Marcelline is survived by her daughter, Kristina Winkelman and husband Mike of New Haven, Missouri; four grandchildren, Tory Bradford and wife Larissa of Littleton, Colorado, Joshua Castelli and wife Danielle of Collinsville, Illinois, Mikayla Winkelman of New Haven, and Jacob Winkelman of Alton, Illinois; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one son, Mark G’Schwind.
