James J. Maune, 84, of Washington, passed away at his home on Monday June 4, 2018. He was born in Washington on October 20, 1933, to the late Aloys and the late Elizabeth (nee Gildehaus) Maune. Jim married his loving wife Shirley Schriewer on January 31, 1953, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church. Jim made a living as a painter but had a passion for the outdoors and could often be found hunting or sharing his love of fishing with his grandchildren teaching them everything he knew. Jim was also involved in the Knights of Columbus and was a 4th degree Knight.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Gertrude’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 8, 2018, at Miller Funeral Home from 4 until 8:00 p.m, Knights of Columbus and parish rosary will be at 7:30 pm. Memorial donations are appreciated to St. Gertrude’s School, Masses, or the Pregnancy Assistance Center.
Jim is survived by his wife, Shirley Maune (nee Schriewer); eight children, Kathleen AuBuchon and husband Greg of Princeton, Indiana, Keith J. Maune and wife Cheryl A. of Krakow, Jamie Lakebrink of New Haven, Cindy Frick and husband Dave of Washington, Dale Maune and wife Dawn of Hermann, Larry Maune and wife Carla of Union, Peggy Adkison of Washington, and Andy Maune and wife Cheri of Washington; five siblings, Armelia Chisholm of Washington, Virgil Maune of Washington, Betty Schmuke of Beaufort, Bert Breckenkamp of Washington, and Tom and Jane Maune of Washington; brothers-in-law, Leonard Piontek of Washington, Ron Schriewer and wife Diane of Richmond, Virginia, and Ken Schriewer and wife Jane of Washington; sisters-in-law, Shirley Maune of Wildwood, and Katsie Schriewer of St. Charles; nineteen grandchildren, and twenty-five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, CJ Maune and Whip Maune; sister, Gerry Piontek; son, John Maune; grandson, Todd Hoelscher; and son-in-law, Jerry Lakebrink.
