Georgia M. Brinker (nee Edmiston), 90, of Villa Ridge departed this life on Thursday, April 26, 2018, in Washington. Georgia was born on November 20, 1927, in Coulterville, Illinois, the daughter of the late George N. Edmiston and Hattie M. Edmiston (nee Barnes). She received her education in Coulterville, St. Louis, and Eureka and her four years at Eureka high school coincided with WWII. Immediately following high school, she worked at General American Life Insurance Company in St. Louis. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, the late Sylvester H. Brinker on November 10, 1948, at the Church of St. Louis of France, the old Cathedral, in St. Louis, Missouri. Five children came to bless this union. Later, she worked at St. John’s Mutual Insurance Company in Washington as a secretary, treasurer, and agent until she retired. Mrs. Brinker never met a stranger and loved being around people. She was a world traveler, having visited Europe, Alaska, and Canada. She was very proud of her English and Irish heritage. She had a special love for her entire family and was happiest when she was with her children and grandchildren. Many memories have been made with them. She was a quilter and enjoyed being with the ladies of St. John Gildehaus quilting circle, the Holy Stitchers. Her sense of humor made many people smile. She will be missed and remembered by all who knew her.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am on Thursday, May 3, 2018, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church (Gildehaus), and interment will follow in the Church cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 2, from 3 until 7 pm at Miller Funeral Home. Memorial donations are appreciated to the Kidney Foundation, Siteman Cancer Center, or St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
Among her survivors are Donald Brinker and wife Diana of Villa Ridge, David Brinker and wife Jennifer of Creve Coeur, Robert Brinker and wife Cheryl of Eureka, Vernon Brinker and wife Cindy of Villa Ridge, Cheryl Heggemann and husband Larry of Cape Girardeau; one brother, Paul Edmiston of St. Louis; twelve grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; other relatives; and friends.
Mrs. Brinker was preceded in death by her beloved husband Sylvester H. Brinker on January 24, 1990; three children in infancy; a grand-daughter, Donna Lynn Brinker; her parents, George and Hattie Edmiston; a sister, Emmagene Edmiston; two brothers, Charles and wife Betty and Kanard and wife Ethel and second wife Delores and sister-in-law, Dee Edminston.
