Daniel Bailey, 69, of Union, passed away on July 13, 2019 at his home, surrounded by his family. Daniel was born on October 10, 1949, in St. Clair, to the late Daniel M. Bailey and Mary (nee Carter). On February 8, 1975, Daniel married his wife, Diane (nee Gumpenberger), at St. Peter’s U.C.C. in Washington. Daniel loved to spend time outdoors, camping, and fishing. He also enjoyed bowling and occasionally playing a round of golf. Mostly, Daniel cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents; children, Daniel E. Bailey, and Kevin Bailey; Mother-in-law, Rose Mary Gumpenberger; Stepfather, Henry Lenger; Sisters, Diane Nugent, and infant sisters Roxanna and Tonya Bailey; Brothers-in-law, John Elbert, and Donny Gumpenberger.
Daniel is survived by his wife, Diane Bailey of Union; Daughter, Shannon Bailey and fiance Rich Carr of Union; siblings, John “Bink” Bailey and wife Sarah, Alex Bailey, Rhonda Daffron, and Dee Bell and husband Jeff; grandchildren, Dominic Bailey, Ethan Carr, Graci Bailey, and Olivia Carr; Father-in-law, Everett Gumpenberger; Step Mother, Joyce Bailey and special friend Bill Voss; Special Friend, Charlie and Rose McMahan; Sisters and Brothers-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, from 4:00 - 8:00 pm at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2019, at 10:00 am at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home. Officiating the service will be Rev. Gary Daud. Burial will be at St. Francis Borgia Cemetery. Memorials are appreciated to help with funeral expenses (Please make checks payable to Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home).
