Norma Becker Obituary

Norma Jean “Jeanie” Becker, 80, of Labadie, passed away on March 13, 2024. Jeanie, daughter of the late August Steffens and Evelyn nee Kleekamp, was born on September 8, 1943, in Washington. She received her education from Washington High School, graduating in 1961. On December 5, 1964, she was united in marriage to Donald Becker at the Pilgrim U.C.C. in Labadie. In 1995, she received her Associate of Arts degree from East Central College.

Jeanie and Donald made a happy life on their farm in Labadie where they raised Dean, Debbie, and Sally. Jeanie was a worker. She never met a job she wouldn’t or couldn’t do. In addition to making a home and farming alongside Donald, Jeanie held several jobs in which she used her talent for cooking. Many of the ingredients in her delicious dishes came from their farm and the garden that Jeanie tended with love and a green thumb. Donald and Jeanie loved to travel and to watch sports, especially the Cardinals and the Mizzou Tigers. But Jeanie’s most favorite thing was her grandchildren. She was the grandma that everyone should have. Jeanie will be dearly missed as a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Jeanie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald Becker; daughter-in-law, Renee Becker; two siblings, Barbara Johns, James Steffens, and grandson, Jesse Becker.

Among her survivors are three children, Dean Becker and Janet Eckelkamp of Union, Debbie Becker and Scott Luecker of Washington, and Sally Becker and husband Steve Hollis of Columbia, MO; siblings, George Steffens of Labadie, Helen Sands of Labadie, Martha Owens and husband Ronnie of Labadie, Robert Steffens and wife Sandy of Labadie, Verie Dothage of Labadie, and Richard Steffens and wife Becky of Washington; three grandchildren, Nathan Bowen and wife Lori of Henderson, NV, Hank Becker and significant other Mackenzie Hobeck of Jackson, MO, and Gus Hollis of Columbia, MO; two great-grandchildren, Nicholas Bowen of Springfield, MO and Cheyanna Bowen of Henderson, NV; other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 17, 2024, from 2-5 p.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home. Funeral service will begin at 9 a.m. on Monday, March 18, 2024, at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Bethel Cemetery in Labadie.
